The Celebration of Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche's Centenary Anniversary

26th December 2022 was an important day at Khordong Byangter Monastery and a date to be remembered as we celebrated the Centenary Anniversary of our beloved late teacher and founder of this monastery Terchen Tulku Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche. On this occasion we hosted Lord Gautama Buddha relics brought from Sarnath under the care of the Mahabodhi Society and allowed its public display for 3 days.

The Peace Vase was kindly donated by the initiative of http://peacevaseproject.org/

On this day Kyabje Gonjang Rinpoche and Tulku Ugen Chencho consecrated the 8 great stupas together with the display of Lord Gautama Buddha relics next to the 8 Stupas.

Early morning Lord Gautama Buddha relics were brought out from the Gompa and placed next to the 8 Stupas. Prayers to the Lord Buddha were made as introduction to the consecration ceremony. While the 8 Great stupas consecration ceremony was ongoing Tulku Ugen Chencho earthed the Peace vase at a dedicated space filled with earth located between 2 of the 8 stupas and sealed the place with an engraved plaque for everyone to remember and be able to pay respect to it. Everyone made wishes for world peace in their families and among countries. Circumambulating the 8 Stupas, paying respect to the Lord Buddha relics and remembering Terchen Tulku Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche.

Constantly Stolen Pillars

Dear friends, on this day while celebrating the Dharmapalas we would like to bring your attention to a situation we are having here at Khordong Byangter Gompa. Over the years despite having planted thousands of trees and bougainvilleas and relentlessly repairing the boundary fences the Southern side of our land is constantly being encroached. And not only that fence trees are being cut down and fence pillars being destroyed and cut. This has been going on for years and the encroachment zone is getting closer to our forest in which we built open air kiosk to hold the monks’ classes. The only remedy is the building of a wall. Till then we have no other choice than to leave it open or regularly spend at repairing the fence and rebuilding the Pillars. But the lost trees can’t possibly be planted again till we have secured boundaries. Thank you for your attention and concern.

Best regards.
